Create an Asset Group

Assets which are on a Map can be organized into groups, organizing them in Project Explorer and allowing them to be moved across a Map as a unit. For example, all of the assets used to manage the entrance on a building might include: a door, intercom, reader, and camera. Grouping these within a project allows for the assets to be more easily managed.

To create an asset group:

  1. Open the Map containing the assets.
  2. Select the assets to be grouped together. This can be done by either:
    1. Pressing CTRL and clicking each asset.
    2. Clicking and dragging over the assets.
  3. Right-click and select Group or press Ctrl+G.
  4. Once the group is created, you can name it.
    1. Select the group in Project Explorer.
    2. In Properties set the Group Name to the desired value.

The grouped assets can now be viewed under their group name in the Project Explorer. Selecting the group name from here or any of the asset icons also selects all assets within the group, allowing for them to be easily moved around the Map together. If any of the icons are deleted, all of the icons and the group itself will be removed from the Map.

Note: Once assets have been grouped together, they will all have their z-order set to be the same as the asset with the highest z-order. However, they will maintain the same relative z-order to other assets in the group. This is not undone if the assets become ungrouped.
