Add a Rule

Rules can be useful for facilitating the transfer of responsibility between Workstations in projects. In this example, creating a new Rule allows cell blocks to have their control transferred to another Workstation.

  1. Before using Rules, configure the assets you want to use by using Collections:
  2. In Home > System Configuration > Rules.
  3. Click to create Rule 1.
  4. Rename the Rule, and click on All Assets under the Assets section.
  5. Decide what assets and Maps should be included in the Rule. If the Rule is not applicable, switch the toggle to off.
  6. Within the Multiple Selection Browser, select the assets to be used:
When choosing the scope for the Rule, there are two options:
    • All — This Rule will apply to all assets in the project.
    • Custom — This Rule will apply to a pre-configured Collection of assets.
  7. Click OK.
  8. Alarm Escalation is available when Post Alarms is enabled. Determine whether alarms in this Rule should escalate, and enable the toggle to allow escalation.
Note: For more information, see the Alarm Escalation page.
  9. Decide whether alarms should escalate when they are unacknowledged and specify the amount of time before escalation occurs.
  10. Within the Multiple Selection Browser, select the Rule the alarm will escalate to.
Note: If a selected Rule also has escalation enabled, its timers begin when the asset appears in that Rule.
  11. Decide whether alarms should escalate when they are acknowledged and specify the amount of time before escalation occurs.
  12. Within the Multiple Selection Browser, select the Rule the alarm will escalate to.
  13. Click OK.
  14. Click on All Maps under Maps.
  15. Within the Multiple Selection Browser, select the Maps to be used:
When choosing the scope for the rule, there are three options:
    • All — This Rule will apply to all Maps in the project.
    • Custom — This Rule will apply to selected Maps.
  16. Click OK.
  17. To apply it to a Workstation, navigate to Rule Assignments, and select the required Workstation.
  18. To get an overview of all the Rules and Workstations in the project, click on the Rules tab to see the overview page:
  19. Save the project.
