Import/Export PLC Devices Assets Types

IPFusion PLC Devices Asset Types can be imported and exported to XML files. This feature is useful for creating a specific type of asset that can be shared within and between projects. Unlike other import/export functions, XML files are not meant to be edited outside of Designer.

Export Asset Types

To Export Asset Types:

  1. Create a unique Asset Type.
  2. In the Integrated System configuration, go to Asset Types.
  3. Under Asset Types, select the required asset type to export.
  4. Click Export to generate an XML file.
  5. Save the XML file to the Workstation.

    Settings Property Name Description
    Status Word Friendly Name The name associated with the bit position.
    Custom Attributes Attribute Name The name of the attribute.
    Data Type The data type of the attribute. The type could be either a boolean, integer or string.
    Initial Value The default value to which the attribute is set.
    Asset Type Settings Asset Type Name The name of the asset type.
    Background Color The background color of the asset.
    Caption blinks when asset is in Alarm Specifies whether the caption text blinks while the asset is alarmed.
    Caption Color Specifies the caption color configuration applied to the asset.
    Selected Caption Color The selected color of the caption.
    Icon Width and Height The size of the asset.

    The following properties will be exported for all of the Elements in the Asset Type:

    • Is Flash Enabled
    		 The element's alarm settings.
    Note: Alarm types will not be transferred over with export.
    Identification
    • Friendly Name
    • Logging Description
    		 How the element is identified in Designer or the Activity Log.
    Layout
    • Height
    • Width
    • X
    • Y
    		 The size of the element.
    Settings
    • Include in Activity Log
    • Visibility Expression
    		 The logic the element will follow and whether it will be included in the Activity Log.
    Elements Image If the element is an image, the following data is transferred:
    • Choose Image or Flash Image
      Note: Imported images are added to the project's resource folder. If an identical file already exists, the system reuses the existing resource instead of creating a duplicate.
    Text If the element is text, the following data is transferred:
    • Text
    • Text Color
    • Flash Text Color
    • Text Properties
    Symbol If the element is a symbol, the following data is transferred:
    • Choose Symbol
    • Fill Color
    • Flash Fill Color
    • Line Color
    • Flash Line Color
    Note: Associated Assets will not be transferred over with export.

Import Asset Types

To Import Asset Types:

  1. In the Integrated System configuration, go to Asset Types.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Locate a previously exported XML file and click Open.
